It offers heavy steel construction with a twin-tier design, and the dumbbell trays are lined with rubber to help protect dumbbell weights. The black powder coat finish helps protect against chips, scratching, and corrosion.

Dumbbell shelf racks are best suited for dumbbells with at least one flat side to prevent rolling. These weight racks are a bit easier for users to place dumbbells versus having to fit them perfectly into designated holders or "dumbbell saddles" found on dumbbell saddle racks.

Plus, shelf dumbbell racks offer better protection for dumbbell head edges, or corners, found on hex dumbbells, rubber hex, 8-sided, and 12-sided dumbbells. Dumbbell saddle holders can cause premature wear on the corners and edges of flat-sided dumbbells since the saddle holders are curved and the dumbbell heads are not.
